Ion exchange resin’s storage and
transport
During the period of the storage, we should change the strong acid or
strong base resin to Cl form, and the weak acid or weak base
resin to H form or free amine form in order to keep their
capability, then put them into the pure water for storage. If
the ion exchange resins were in the machine, pour out the water,
and keep the machine airproof to protect the moisture content of
the resins.
There is moisture inside of the resins, so we should keep the
resin wet in the transport. The temperature of 5~40℃ will be the best. And the storage place should apart from
the heater. If the resin lack of moisture, please put the resin
in to 10% NaCl solution slowly, and dunk it for a few hours,
then use the pure water to wash, that can retrieve the moisture.
If the temperature is below 0℃,
we should put the rein into NaCl solution to protect the
moisture content of the resins.
After using the resin, if you want to store them for a long
period, you would better to wash them with pure water in the way
as follow, that can avoid the pollution from algae and
bacterium:
Anion exchange resin: Using 10% NaCl and 2% NaOH mixed solution
to pass the resin bed for twice. The amount is 3 times larger
than the resin bed, and then, wash it. If necessary, it is
better to wash the resin with 0.2% H2O2
before to use it again.
Cation exchange resin: you can fill 0.5% formaldehyde into the
cation exchange resin bed, and keep this consistence during the
storage time. And wash the resin with 0.2% H2O2
or 0.5% formaldehyde before to use it again.
Remark:
①To be stored in sealed vessels,
avoid freezing or violent sun-shine.
②Storage temperature: 4- 40℃.
③Storage expiry is 2 years. If storage is over 2 years,
the product should be reinspected before use. If the resin is
found water loss, you are not allowed to add water directly to
the resin. You should first add just right amount of thick salt
water to it, making the resin become wet again.
